Start by dividing your shipment based on the following:
Heavy items: Books, Tools
Kitchenware, Toys
Bulky Items, stuffed animals,
Large Bulky Items
Special items, Car seat, Musical Instrument, Bicycle
Start packing the Heavy items on the bottom and then the light items at the top
Never exceed 70 lbs in weight. Boxes over 70 lbs are more likely to burst and break
No play. Use bubble wrap or other items to ensure no movement inside the boxes
Use new boxes, cushion items comfortably. Be generous. Packing is a good investment
How to protect your shipment’s contents
Some items can be easy to damage. This item will break if not packed properly. Papers and Documents
Consolidate loose papers an appropriately sized box or envelope. Do the same thing for brochures and magazines.
Always place larger quantities paper in a box.
Hard cover and soft cover Books
The most sensitive part of the books is the corners. Pack your books in the best quality corrugated fiberboard.
If your books cannot be placed in an envelope, pack the wrapped books inside an appropriately sized box.
Fill in the rest of the box with cushioning material.
Liquids
Secure all liquid containers in order to avoid leaks caused by vibration during transit. Poor packing may cause your shipment to damage other shipments.
Wrap the containers in a water-proof zip-lock, if possible, wrap with towels as a sufficient absorbent material to absorb the liquid in case of leaks.
Separate bottles with cushioning material so they do not touch each other.
Maps and blueprints
The best way to ship your blue prints or maps is to roll your maps, plans and blueprints and insert them into a triangular tube. FedEx, DHL and UPS supply these tubes.
Securely seal both ends of the tube.
Sharp items like Scissors and knives
Use heavy-duty cardboard to ensure that all points and edges are fully covered.
Place the heavily wrapped objects inside a box. Use plenty of cushioning material.
Do not allow the sharp items to touch the sides of the container.
Electrical items and electronic equipment
